IEA Councils was founded in 2016 to help lessen the gap of college access for 1st and 2nd generation immigrant students of  African heritage. IEA Councils engage targeted student communities by delegating appropriate mentors to ensure proper guidance, support, and resources.  IEA Councils has grown quickly, and we hope to serve double the number of students we serve in the 2022 academic year. This requires us to seek more amazing mentors for our students.

The significance of college and the collective effort of participants is pivotal in building sustainable relationships among community members. Further, this dynamic will demonstrate the importance of college within the proper sociocultural context of participants. Through this approach, we ensure both the receptiveness of scholars as well as their persistent participation in all IEA Councils’ workshops, events, and programs .

The aim of this program is to work with and support scholars in their senior year of high school with all aspects of their college application.

Our 2022 cohort averaged nearly $150,000 in scholarships per student to attend their institution of choice.

24% of our 2022 cohort will be matriculating to Ivy League Institutions.

The significance of college mentorship is pivotal for economic mobility among underrepresented communities. Personalized mentorship demonstrates the importance of college within the proper sociocultural context of our scholars. Through this approach, mentors will ensure both the receptiveness of scholars as well as their persistent participation in all IEA Councils’ workshops, events, and programs
